登州海中,时有云气,如宫室、台观、城堞、人物、车马、冠盖,历历可见,谓之海市.或曰：「蛟蜃之气所为」,疑不然也.欧阳文忠曾出使河朔,过高唐县,驿舍中夜有鬼神自空中过,车马人畜之声,一一可辨.其说甚详,此不具纪.问本处父老,云：「二十年前尝昼过县,亦历历见人物.」土人亦谓之梅市,与登州所见大略相类也.
